Mantis™

Live cable fault monitoring module

The Mantis™ LW-MM200 is the first live cable testing and reporting module that monitors energized cable runs and electrical circuits around-the-clock. It detects, locates, and characterizes faults, either static/persistent or intermittent, and reports where and when they occur. This information can then be transmitted wirelessly or over data cables for alerts and instant response to the event or outage.

The Mantis uses revolutionary Spread Spectrum Time Domain Reflectometry (SSTDR) technology to “see” into the cable environment and watch for changes that could lead to outages or alert system owners of tampering and removal of electrical cables.

MANTIS ENTERPRISE APPLICATION (MEA)

Mantis enterprise application (mea)

Mantis Enterprise Application (MEA) is a multi-tiered application which permits a large number of Mantis devices to interact with a single system. The MEA can be monitored and controlled from anywhere there is an internet connection. All data sent by any Mantis device is stored in a database and that data can be viewed using any of the two dashboard-based User Interface (UI), a map-based dashboard and a device-based dashboard.

The Map-based Dashboard is intended for display in a control center and display each Mantis device at its location and shows the testing status of the Mantis device, like test is running and what test type is running. If a Mantis device detects a fault, the Map-based Dashboard will displays the fault information.

The Device-based Dashboard is intended for those who need to know more about the device other than a test is running or not and a fault is detected. The Device-based Dashboard displays key device health information, like battery status and device events.

Using the Device Control UI, users can control any of the Mantis device to include starting and stopping any of the three test types. The Device Control UI provides users with greater control of the Mantis device, like using advanced dynamic test settings. The Device Control UI allows users to view more information about faults, like graph views, and the Mantis devices themselves.

“[LiveWire Innovation] delivered and demonstrated a unit which we immediately used to accurately locate a cable fault on one of our sub-sea 5 KV cables. Prior to this we had used conventional TDR meters which had given us unreliable results and showed ghost signals which could have indicated additional faults that didn’t exist. The cost implications of this are huge.”
